Resolving a stock bin visible in SQL but missing in the Everest desktop application

Overview

A user running SQL against the company database can see a stock bin and its quantities, but the same bin does not appear anywhere in the Everest desktop application, including the Discontinued view. The Everest session is open in a different company than the one that owns the data. This is not a permissions problem. This article explains how to identify and correct the company context.

Information

Cause

Everest keeps one database per company (EVEREST_<Company>). A SQL connection targets the database directly, while the desktop application shows only the company selected at login. Bins, locations and items from other companies are never displayed.

Identify the company you are logged into

  • The description shown next to the top-level MAIN location in Inventory > Stock Areas is the company name.
  • Compare it with the database name used in SQL.

Resolution

Log out of Everest and log in again selecting the company that owns the data, or let a user who already works in that company perform the in-application steps. Database queries and updates are unaffected by which company the desktop application is open in.
